A bar chart or bar graph is a chart with rectangular bars whose lengths are proportional to the values they represent. They’re commonly used for comparing two or more values that were taken over time or under different conditions, usually on small data sets.
Sometimes, the datas will be large and many feel difficult to plot the values. Given below are the few steps that if followed carefully, will help to plot graph easily and at a faster rate.
Draw horizontal axis and vertical axis. Mark ‘0’ and Label the axis
Step 2:
Mark the values on the X-axisStep 3:
Mark the values on the Y-axis. To do it
Ø Find the highest value 184233
Ø Divide it with 10 184233/10 = 18433.3
Ø Remove the decimal part 18433
Ø Keep the first digit as such and change the other digits to ‘0’ 10000
Ø Mark the Y-axis with the multiples of the answer
10000, 20000, 30000, 40000, 50000 etc;
Ø Mark more than the highest value up to 190000
Step 4:
Ø Take the first value on the Y-axis 10000
Ø Divide it with the number of lines on one unit 10000/5 = 2000
Ø Use the answer to divide the values in the table
Year | Number of live tropical fish exported |
1990 | 54,572 ÷ 2000 = 27.286 = 27 |
1991 | 112,918 ÷ 2000 = 56.459 = 57 |
1992 | 161,918 ÷ 2000 = 80.959 = 81 |
1993 | 184,233 ÷ 2000 = 92.1165 =92 |
Ø The values obtained are the number of lines.
Ø Count the lines and draw the bar.
For 1990, count 27 and draw a bar
